Obituary of D. Roy Koser

D. Roy Koser, age 63 of Nichols, formerly of Coralville and Muscatine, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Scot Patrick officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Roy’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for Roy’s family through our website @www.gayanciha.com. Roy was born December 24, 1940, in Iowa City the son of Clifford and Inez (Snavely) Koser. He attended Iowa City Schools, graduating from City High School in 1959. He later attended Iowa City Business College. On August 5, 1967, he married Linda Joan Clevenger in Nichols. The couple has lived in Coralville, Muscatine, and for the past 14 years in Nichols. Roy has worked in a number of places in his years, including Breese’s Napa Auto, McCabe Implement in Coralville, Heartland Express, Midwest Frame and Axel, and was currently working for Iowa City Brake. He had also owned and operated a DX Service Station in Coralville, and Koser Implement in Muscatine As a young man, Roy enjoyed being a member of the Iowa City Racing Club, racing hydroplane boats, one of the original members of Duster’s Car Club, where he was able to show off his treasured corvette. For over twenty years, he was a member of the Coralville Volunteer Fire Department, enjoyed bowling in leagues in Iowa City and Coralville and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan, always cheering for the black & gold! But most important in his life was his family. His family includes his wife, Linda; daughter and her husband, Kris and Matt Brack of West Branch; son, Ed Koser of Farmington, Iowa; mother, Inez Koser of Coralville; sister and her husband, Jean and Dick Vitosh of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Kathy Clevenger of Muscatine and Becky Bayers and her husband, Denny of Phoenix, AZ; brother-in-law and his wife, Russ and Sharyl Grim; in-laws, Joan and Everett Grim of Nichols, and Glen and Verlee Clevenger of Bluffs, IL. Roy was preceded in death by his father, brother, Edward Koser, and brother-in-law, Duane Clevenger. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Roy’s family.
