Obituary of Grace Albrecht

Grace Albrecht, age 80, of Iowa City died on Monday, December 13, 2004 following a sudden illness at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 on Friday, December 17, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City. For those attending the service parking will be available on Jefferson, Linn and Dubuque Streets. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorials may be given to the Grace Albrecht Memorial fund. Online condolences may be sent for family through our website at www.gayciha.com. Grace Peek was born on November 22, 1924 in Linneus, Missouri the daughter of Truman T. and Lura Hackney Peek. She graduated from Seymour High School, Seymour, Iowa and married William Albrecht on December 30, 1944 in Iowa City. She worked for two different restaurants, the Big Ten Inn and the Little Pine Café in Iowa City. Following her time in the restaurants she worked as a Department Secretary for the Physics and Astronomy Department at the University of Iowa. Grace was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose in Iowa City. Grace enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing with Bill and her Iowa Hawkeye’s. She was a wonderful mother and a devoted wife. Everyday she spent time with her husband Bill at the Iowa City Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Her family includes her husband, Bill of Iowa City, three children, David Albrecht and wife, Kay and their children, Tom and Chris of Bowling Green, Ohio, Steve Albrecht and wife, Ofie and their children, Jeremy and Andrea of San Francisco, California and Janet Albrecht of Greensboro, North Carolina, two brothers, John Peek and wife, Bess of Cedar Rapids and Truman (Gus) Peek and wife Marian of Palo Alto, California, and one sister, Mary Longstreth of Newton, Iowa along with a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, George and a sister, Alice Parks. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Grace’s services and her family.
