Obituary of Alice Geers

Alice Geers, age 59 of 1239 Guildford Court, Iowa City died Friday, December 24, 2004, at her home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City with the Reverend Rudolph Juarez officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Tuesday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Alice’s memory. Alice was born November 14, 1945, in Iowa City the daughter of Charles M. and Evelyn C. (Droll) Schnoebelen. She graduated from Regina High School in 1963. On October 15, 1966, she married John E. Geers at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. For over thirty-two years she was associated with First National Bank in Iowa City, and most recently, she worked for Hy-Vee at the Waterfront Store location. Her family includes her husband, John; son and his wife, Matthew and Tiffany Geers of Urbandale, Iowa; daughter and her husband, Dawn and Eric Reimers of Solon; three grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Geers; and Brock Reimers; brothers, Francis Schnoebelen and dear friend, Olie Scott of Unionville, MO, Verle Schnoebelen and his wife, Darlene of Bettendorf, and Dale Schnoebelen and his wife, Connie of Iowa City; sisters, Lu Harland of Kalona, Phyllis Ruth and her husband, Leo of Davenport, and Mick Hammer and her husband, Dale of Iowa City; mother-in-law, Louise Geers of Paxton, IL; sisters-in-law, Betty Schnoebelen of Vista, CA, Lozen Vande of Phoenix, AZ, and Tana Johnson of Monticello, IL; brother-in-law, Jackie Geers of Paxton, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Jerome, and Edwin Schnoebelen; brother-in-law, Ray Harland; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Schnoebelen and Ellen Schnoebelen; father-in-law, Zeno Geers; and brothers-in-law, Joseph and Timothy Geers. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Alice’s family and her services.
