Obituary of Mary Irene Ford

Mary Irene Ford, age 74 formerly of Iowa City died Saturday, March 19, 2005 in Port St. Lucie, Florida where she has lived for the past ten years. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2005 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to Treasure Coast, Foundation Center @ 1201 S.E. Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997. Mary Irene Nost Ford was born September 24, 1930, in Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Charles H. and Lena M.. (Snavely) Nost. Following graduation from Iowa City City High School she married Richard Ford on December 24, 1949, here in Iowa City. For a number of years she was a security guard at the University Of Iowa Museum Of Art. Her special interest included dancing, music, gardening, shopping and love of animals. Her family includes her husband, Clarence Johnson of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Linda Shannan and her husband, Larry of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughter, Maria Timmerman and her husband, Darrell; great-grandson, Austin Timmerman, and a brother, Harlen Nost of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Ford, and a brother, Marvin Nost. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Mary’s family and her local services.
