Obituary of Richard Rehder

Richard Rehder, age 66 of 419 South Johnson Street, Iowa City, died at his home Monday, June 6, 2005 following a sudden illness. Graveside services will be held at a later date to be announced. Richard was born June 6, 1939, in Iowa City the son of Theodore and Marguerite (McConkie) Rehder. He graduated from high school in Iowa City and from Princeton University with highest honors with a degree in mathematics. For a number of years following college he worked in the Navy Space program as a mathematician. In addition to math, his other passion in his lifetime was music, known as an accomplished musician. His family includes a brother, Robert Rehder and his wife, Caroline of Switzerland; niece, Katherine Rehder, and nephew, John Rehder; aunt, Dorothea Gearhart of Tucson, AZ; and cousins, John Gearhart and his wife, Marie of Silver City, NM; and Jane Kranenberg and her husband, Clyde of Jackson.
