Obituary of Jean Schultz

Jean Schultz, age 76 of 1727 Brown Deer Road, Coralville, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of pneumonia, with her family at her side. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2005, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, with the Reverend Kyle Otterbein officiating. Following the service everyone is invited for a time of fellowship and refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorial donations can be made in Jean’s memory either to the American Red Cross, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, or to the University of Iowa Foundation, c/o Iowa Hawkeye Athletics. Delores Jean Schultz was born August 26, 1929, in Des Moines, the daughter of Lloyd and Leona (McClanahan) Stephen. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines in 1947. On November 6, 1949, she married Louis William Schultz in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines and Decorah before settling in Marengo, Iowa. Here they raised their family and lived for over twenty years before moving to the Iowa City and Coralville area. Throughout the years when she worked outside their home she worked as a secretary, assisting her husband in his law practice, and in the Iowa City area as office manager for Director of Family Practice at Oakdale. But her love in this world was caring for her family! In Iowa City, she was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and University Women. In Marengo she was active in a number of organizations including 4-H and Girl Scouts. Jean loved tending to her flowers, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeye’s and Chicago Cubs, but most of all spoiling her six grandsons and granddaughter. Her family includes her husband, Louis; daughter, Marcia K. Schultz, esq. and her husband, Randy Schmidt of Saipan, N. Mariana Islands; two sons and their wives, Dr. Mark Schultz and Shari of Storm Lake, and Paul Schultz and Julie of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Stephen and Eric Schultz of Iowa City, Ryan, Ross, Collin, Casey, and Shannon Schultz all of Storm Lake; and her sister, Shirley Atkin of Pella.
