Obituary of Dorothy Greazel
Dorothy G. Greazel, 83, of 332 North Johnson Street, Iowa City died suddenly Sunday, October 9, 2005 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Iowa City with Reverend Andrew Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service where there will be a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences for Dorothy's family may be sent through our website @www.gayandciha.com. Dorothy was born May 28, 1922 in rural Johnson County to Bernard and Laura (Foracker) Connell. She was a 1938 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and had attended Iowa City Business College. Dorothy married Albert Gaulocher, July 22, 1944 in Iowa City; he died April 28, 1970. She married Joseph Greazel August 2, 1975 in Iowa City; he died July 18, 1982. Dorothy worked for many years at JC Penny in Iowa City. She was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society of St. Wenceslaus, American Legion Auxiliary Post 0017, a volunteer at the Mercy Hospital Gift Shop for over 3000 hours, volunteered at the Iowa City Senior Center and at election time worked polling areas. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and latch hook, euchre and bridge card playing. Dorothy's family includes a son, Dennis Gaulocher and his wife, Patricia; two granddaughters, Sherry Elliott and her husband, Jeff of Oskaloosa; and Caylene Gaulocher; two great-granddaughters, Katrina and Raeann Elliott; a sister, Phyllis Schump and her husband, Roland "Bud" of Iowa City; nephews, Steve, Lee and Dave Connell and Jerry Schump; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hixson of Brighton. Dorothy was preceded by her parents, husbands, a son, Francis and a brother, Bill Connell. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Dorothy's family and her services.
