Obituary of Julia Daering

Julia A. Daering, 82, of Hills, died Sunday, November 20, 2005, at Atrium Village, Hills following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, Iowa. Memorials in Julia’s memory may be given to Atrium Village or Hills First Responders. Online condolences for Julia’s family may be sent through our website @ www.gayandciha.com. Julia was born January 30, 1923 in Washington, Iowa to Tom and Mary (Patterson) Harvey. She was a 1940 graduate of Washington, Iowa High School. On December 18, 1940 she married Duane Daering in Washington, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1980. Before retiring, Julia had worked at ACT in Iowa City. She had also previously worked for the lunch program at Hills Elementary School, Hills and Alden’s department store, Iowa City. When Julia first moved to Hills with her family in 1956, she worked at Dolan’s Grocery in Hills. Julia had been a member of the Hills Town and Country. Julia’s family includes, two daughters, Trish Murray and her husband, Paul Rummelhart of Hills and Sue Daering of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Jim of Madison, Wisconsin and Ed of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Rayna Danielson and her husband, Travis; Christy Jenn and her husband, Steve; Jill Hartz and her husband, Jim; Bret Kron, Kyla Pechous and her husband, Eddie; Justin Daering, Ben Daering, and Sam Daering; eight great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Ardella Harvey of Washington, Iowa and Marge Johnson of Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Duane, an infant daughter, Margo, and a brother, Dick Harvey.
