Obituary of Gail S. Kiser

Gail S. (Calkins) Kiser, age 58, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida from complications of cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Gail’s memory. Gail Susan Calkins was born March 28, 1948, in Iowa City the daughter of Lawrence and Lucille (Hamer) Calkins. She attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School in 1967. She then attended the University of Iowa where she met her future husband, S. Craig Kiser. The couple was married in 1969 and they moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1970. Here she earned her Associate of Arts degree from the Tallahassee Community College. She was employed by the State of Florida in the Department of Legal Affairs, retiring in June of 2004 after 20 years. Her family includes her husband, Craig of Tallahassee; daughters, Tricia Kiser, and Pamela Kiser-Burch and her husband, Tim all of Tallahassee; grandson, Roger Kiser; parents, Larry and Lucille Calkins of Iowa City; brother, Craig Calkins and his wife, Laurie of Kalona; niece and nephews, Amanda, Chris, and Alex.
