Obituary of Linda Young

Linda L. Young, age 67 of 705 Whiting Avenue, Iowa City died at her home Thursday July 20, 2006. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2006, at the St. Stevens Lutheran Cemetery in Atkins, Iowa. Linda Lee Young was born August 10, 1938, in Blairstown, Iowa, the daughter of Phillip G. and Edith M. (Brackett) Young. Following graduation from high school she attended the University of Iowa where she received her BA degree in General Science in 1960, her Master’s degree in Science Education in 1964, and later her PhD in 1978. She worked as a Research Coordinator and Information Systems Manager at the University of Iowa Child Health Specialty Clinic until retiring in 1993. Her family includes a sister, Donna Andrews of Richardson, TX; nephew, Steve Young and his wife, Joey of Iowa City; nieces, Cristi Ryan and her husband, Kevin of Richardson, TX, Wendy Swim and her husband, Phil of Richardson, TX, Lynn Fox of Garland, TX, Tina Welker and her husband, Frank of Albuquerque, NM, Susie Alcon and her husband, Rick of Albuquerque, NM; sisters-in-law, Dixie Walker and her husband, Wayne of Iowa City, and Lea Young of Albuquerque, NM, and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Robert Young and James Young. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Linda’s family and her services. Linda L.
