Obituary of Myron G. Bloom
Myron G. Bloom, 71 of 913 Willow Street, Iowa City died Thursday, January 11, 2007, at his home. Myron Glenn Bloom was born February 7, 1935, in Iowa City the son of Samuel R. and Lucille (Krejci) Bloom. His parents died when he was very young and he was raised by his grandparents, Bessie and Anton Krejci. He attended schools in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Wilson High School. Here he was active in the choir, Cedar Rapids Drum Corps, Drama, and Football. Following a short time at Coe College he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Korean Conflict and some of the Vietnam War. Myron married Cherie R. Prior on May 27, 1955, in Cedar Rapids. Upon his release from active duty in the service they settled in California where he worked as a electrical design engineer for several aeroneutronics companies. He later lived in Pennsylvania and California before retiring to Iowa in 1996. In California and here in Muscatine, Iowa, Myron was an active member of the Elks Lodge, having held the title of Exalted Ruler for two consecutive terms of office at each. He enjoyed making model airplanes, playing bingo, visiting friends from high school and the past, but most of all he loved his family. He will be remembered as a smart, charming, and caring man who will be missed by many. His family includes two daughters, Denise Cossey and her husband, George, and Jodi Bloom-Horn and her husband, Tom Horn all of Atascadero, CA; son, Mike Bloom and his wife, Samantha of Alisa Viejo, CA; grandchildren, Matthew, Kimberly, Marissa, Savannah, Tiffany, Amber and Seth; great-grandchildren, Isis and Gabriel; his half sister, Helen Ortman of Ojai, CA; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas.. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, half sister, Daisy; and a special aunt, Estella (Krejci) Baxa. No local services are planned, family services will be held in California.
