Obituary of Wilbur F. Rosene

Wilbur F. Rosene, 90, of Iowa City, died at Bickford Cottage on Thursday, March 22, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with the Reverend Karl Divine-Koch officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in Wilbur’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Wilbur Francis Rosene was born August 25, 1916, in Toledo, Ohio the son of Wilbur and Caroline (Provo) Rosene. He graduated from Libbey High School in Toledo. On May 6, 1944, he married Ruth Kasch. His career, which began in Toledo at Owens Brush Co. (now Oral B), spanned over forty-five years and brought him and his family to Iowa City in 1958. He worked for Owens until his retirement in 1981. Wilbur was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Iowa City, a life member of the Elks Club and was a past Exalted Ruler. He was an avid golfer and he and his wife, Ruth, were charter members of NSH PIITH golf group. Wilbur bowled in many leagues throughout the years and he also enjoyed fishing. For years, he and Ruth would winter in Texas and Florida. His family includes two daughters, Cathy Pacha and her husband, Larry of Oxford, Sheryl Gordon and her husband, Richard of Iowa City; grandchildren, Nathan Pacha and his wife, Missy, Nicholas Pacha and his wife, Laney, Kapra Hefley and her husband, John, and Kelley Fedler and her husband, Jon; great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Hefley and Leigha and Landry Pacha; and Wilbur’s sister, Ruth Saner of Toledo, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth in 2000, two brothers, Clyde and Elwood, and one sister, Isabelle Inderrieden. His daughters would like to thank the staff at Bickford Cottage for the loving care provided to Wilbur the past 6½ years.
