Obituary of Mildred L. Nesbitt
Mildred L. Nesby Nesbitt, 88 of the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville died Saturday, August 4, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2007, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with burial to take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. There will be a time of visitation prior to the services on Friday beginning at 9am. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Mildred Louise Nesbitt was born July 6, 1919, in Yazoo, Mississippi, the daughter of Eddie and Josephine (Glover) Washington. She lived in Mississippi and Tennessee prior to moving to this are in the 1960s. Her family includes a daughter, Rosetta Johnson (Roosevelt) of Coralville; son, James Nesby (Lillie) of St. Louise, MO; grandchildren, Rose Sanders (Lang) , Yvonne Johnson, and Juanita Batte all of Coralville, Emmitt Johnson of Waterloo, James Johnson of Clarinda, IA, Brenda Fisher of Cedar Rapids, Linda Allen of Laurel, MS, Theresa Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD, Katherine Jackson of Houston, TX, and Louvenia Welsh of Greensville, MS; 33 great-grandchildren, 37 great-great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces, nephews, and family members. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James; and a niece, Jean Etta Welsh. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Mildreds family and her services.
