Obituary of Mary Ellen Gregory

Mary Ellen Gregory, 61 of Atalissa, Iowa died Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 3 to 7pm Friday, August 31st. at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City followed by an informal service to celebrate Mary’s life. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Mary’s wish for a hog roast to share pictures, memories, and stories will be held in October at their home, a family tradition! Mary Ellen Wildman was born November 6, 1945, in rural Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of LeRoy and Dorothy (Dohrer) Wildman. She was a 1964 graduate of West Branch High School. On December 24, 1963, she married Melvin W. Gregory. For a number of years the couple lived in Kahoka, Missouri before returning to Iowa City in 1971. Here she worked for a number of businesses, most recently the Lear Corporation. Mary enjoyed life, from the outdoors of camping, gardening, her flowers, listening to the birds, to reading a good book, cooking for family and friends, or sitting down to play cards; she enjoyed it all. Her family includes her husband, Melvin; daughter, Melinda Blosch and her husband, Mike of Dubuque; grandchildren, Kaitlin Blosch, Amanda, Amber, Megan and Madison Asher; sisters, Shirley Wildman of West Branch and Lori Bowers and her husband, Ed of West Branch; brothers, Dave Wildman of Iowa City, George Wildman of Iowa City, Steve Wildman (Dessa Slaughter) of Tipton, and Mike Wildman (Joan) of Iowa City; sisters-in-law, Nelma Goodale (Melvin) of Kahoka, MO and Joanne Gregory of Ft. Madison, IA; brother-in-law, Marvin Gregory of Tulsa, OK, numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful friend, Sassie. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark Gregory in 1994; and a brother-in-law, James Gregory. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Mary’s family and her services.
