Obituary of Elizabeth Huxtable

Elizabeth Huxtable, 91 of the Oaknoll Retirement Residence where she died Friday, September 14, 2007. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2007, at the Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Hughson, California. Elizabeth was born September 28, 1915, in Turlock, CA the daughter of Charles and Winifred (Fablinger) Burke. She graduated from San Jose State College. On June 8, 1942, she married Homer Huxtable in Williamsburg, VA. They made their home in Modesto, CA. Elizabeth worked at public libraries in New York City and California and as a medical librarian at Modesto and Stockton State Hospitals in California. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling all over the world. In 1999 she moved to Iowa City to be near her daughter. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Earl Rogers of Iowa City. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Howard; and a brother, James Burke. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service assisted with local arrangements.
