Obituary of Gale A. Charbon

Gale A. Charbon, 48 of rural Tiffin, died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following complications after surgery. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2007, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, with the Reverend Beverly Marshall-Goodell officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gale’s memory with the proceeds to go towards the Tiffin City Park, Grace United Methodist Church and 4-H. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Gale was born May 14, 1959, in Iowa City the son of Fred and Marilyn (Gritton) Charbon. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1977. On October 11, 1980 he married Cynthia A. Groff at the Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. As a lifelong resident of the Tiffin area he has spent his entire life farming, and had worked for a number of years for Consumers COOP. Gale enjoyed life, loved his fellow man, was active in many things in the area including 4-H, North Liberty Jaycees, local schools, and his church. He was a hard worker, believed in family values, and was always willing to help family, friends, and even a stranger. This legacy of Gale’s life lives on through the gift of organ donation that he chose to share with those in need, those who will live with a better quality of life because of Gale’s life. His family includes his wife, Cindy; daughters, Dawn Davies and her husband, Jeremy of Williamsburg; Amanda Crane and her husband, Sean of Tiffin; son, Ryan Charbon and his fiancée, Krystal Madsen of Williamsburg; two grandchildren, Trenton Leevid Davies and Aliscea Lynn Crane. Other family includes his parents, Fred and Marilyn Charbon of North Liberty; brother, Eugene Charbon and his wife, Marcia of Tiffin; sister, Elaine Rayner and her husband, Randy of Lone Tree; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
