Obituary of Clark M. Cox
Clark M. Cox, 82 of Coralville, longtime resident of the Iowa City area died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home following months of declining health.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City, followed by a reception for family and friends at the church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service where military honors will be provided at 7pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Clark's memory.
Clark Michael Cox was born July 12, 1932, in Iowa City the son of Sam and Regina (Rourke) Cox. His family moved to Ft. Dodge in 1939, where he graduated from high school in 1950. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy serving over four years. Returning to Iowa he attended St. Ambrose College later transferring to the University of Iowa where he graduated in 1959. Prior to graduation he married Shirley Greiner in Kinross, Iowa. Clark was an active member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
His family includes his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Kim Cox of Washington, DC and Carol Crabtree of Coralville; two sons, Kirk Cox (Amy) of Des Moines and Kipp Cox (Valerie) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter-in-law, Renee McMillen-Cox of Maryland; grandchildren, Cate and Mike Neuhauser, Ben and Emily Cox, and Carmen and Caden Crabtree; brothers-in-law: Deke Bedford and Jim Greiner; sisters-in-law; Linda Packard and Doris Greiner.
Clark was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carol Bedford Cox; and son, Marine Captain Clark A. Cox.
