Obituary of Sally Nash
Sara Sally Nash of Iowa City, age 80, died peacefully on April 30, 2008, following a courageous battle with leukemia. Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Coralville, with Dr. John McKinstry officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following these services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Himie Voxman Scholarship Fund c/o University of Iowa Foundation, Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa City or First Christian Church. Online condolences may be sent for Sallys family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Sara Clearman Nash was born in 1928, in Iowa City, the daughter of Harold Clearman and Helen Brownlee Clearman. She attended a country school near Oxford, the University High School in Iowa City, and the University of Iowa. She studied music with Himie Voxman, and earned a chair playing the flute with the University of Iowa Symphony beginning in the eighth grade. In 1949 she married Frank T. Nash of Iowa City. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, Chapter KZ P.E.O., Music Study Club, the National Honor Society, University Club, the Congregational United Church of Christ, and in recent years, enjoyed her affiliation with First Christian Church. Sallys family includes her husband, Frank; their two children, Elizabeth (Richard) Ronning of Denver, Colorado, and John Nash (Teresa Ulin) of Iowa City, two grandchildren, Spencer and Mackenzi Nash of Iowa City, and two step-grandchildren, Michelle (Dellis) Miller of North Liberty and Marc Rebal of Solon. Her family would like to thank Pastor John McKinstry, Amenity Hospice, and the staff at Legacy Pointe for their caring assistance.
