Obituary of Paul Heyn
Paul R. Heyn, 41 of Iowa City died suddenly, Monday, October 6, 2008, in Iowa City. A celebration of Pauls life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2008, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. During this service there will be a time for family and friends to share their memories. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Pauls memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Paul Robert Heyn was born September 29, 1967, in Orange, NJ, the son of Charles R. and Dianne M. (Sterba) Heyn. Growing up in Iowa City, Paul attended City High School, where he was Class President of his senior class, lettered in football his junior and senior years, and graduated in 1985. He then attended the University of Iowa. Paul was the owner/operator of Heyns Ice Cream here in Iowa City. He also enjoyed his part-time job of driving school bus for the Iowa City School System. In the past he was part owner of Old Capital Cab, where he also was a driver. Paul enjoyed life, he loved sports, was involved with numerous softball and volleyball leagues in this area over the years, playing softball was the last thing Paul was doing before his death! He believed in the Young Life Program, as a supporter and sponsor, also was involved with the Poppajohn Entrepreneur Program through the College of Business at the University of Iowa. His family includes his parents, Chuck and Dianne Heyn of Williamsburg; brother, Dave Heyn and his wife, Sarah of Orangeburg, SC; nephew, Thomas Charles Heyn; significant other, Lana Holladay and her two daughters, Jasmine and MacKenzie of Iowa City; and many good friends.
