Obituary of Charlotte Mae Hunter

Charlotte Mae Hunter, 94 of 5180 Highway 6 SE, Iowa City, died Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 26, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. There will be a gathering time for family and friends at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service at 10:00 a.m. Friday until leaving for the services at the cemetery. Charlotte Mae Lewis was born December 13, 1914, in Iowa City the daughter of Malcolm and Adelaide (Thomas) Lewis. She had married three times in her lifetime, first to Walter Bothell, next was Lee Douglass, and her last husband was Warren Hunter. All three preceded her in death. Charlotte was a woman who worked hard and enjoyed life. She was in her element on the farm, working hard, cooking for family and friends, caring for all those around her, even these past number of years. She was a former member of the Iowa City Rebekah Lodge #416. Her family includes a sister, Marguerite Lovetinsky of Iowa City, and numerous nieces, and nephews and their families. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Duane and Merton; and five sisters, Mildred, Gladys, Vera, Mary, and Doris.
