Obituary of Irma J. Broders

Irma J. Broders, 77 formerly of Lincoln, NE died at the home of her sister, Katherine Schweer in Iowa City, Wednesday, May 06, 2009. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2009, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Memorials donations can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, 724 South 12th St. Lincoln, NE 68508, or Iowa City Hospice. Irma was born September 28, 1931 near Denton, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Albert and Melinda (Lostroh) Sieck. She attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Concordia High School and Concordia Teachers’ College, Seward, NE. She taught elementary grades in the Lincoln Public Schools and at Trinity Lutheran School. In 1952, she was united in marriage to Carl Broders, Their union was blessed with three children. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the LWML, taught Sunday School, and served on many committees. She was a member of the Lincoln Duplicate Bridge Club. She is survived by her children and their spouses: son Vernon Broders and wife Francee Harrington , Chicago; daughter Marsha and husband Michael Fenstermaker, Cincinnati, OH: and daughter Lorraine and husband Patrick Fett, Newark, DE, and seven grandchildren, Bradley Broders, Charlotte, NC: Jennifer Broders, Madison, WI; Rebecca, Sarah, and Timothy Fenstermaker, Cincinnati, OH; and Leah and David Fett, Newark, DE. She is also survived by sisters locally, Kathryn (Melvin) Schweer of Iowa City, Rhonda (William) Pypes of North Liberty; other siblings include, Patricia (Burdette) Cooley, Sandra (Peter) D’Agostino, Joyce (Art) Vagts, Mary (John) Glaser; and one brother, Fred Sieck; sister-in-laws Evelyn Broders and Geraldine Broders, and brother in law Fred Calcote. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, brother Albert Sieck, and sister Beverly VanVelson.
