Obituary of Mathew Reynolds

Mathew Reynolds 23, of Iowa City chose to end his life on Monday, May 25, 2009, following a battle with schizophrenia. . Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. Mary’s Auditorium in Oxford, with burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Friday at the Auditorium. A memorial fund has been established in Mathew’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Mathew J. Reynolds was born March 7, 1986, in Iowa City. He graduated from HLV High School in 2005 as valedictorian, and had attended the University of Iowa. He was employed at Schenker Logistics of West Branch. Mathew enjoyed life; in high school he ran cross country and participated in a youth group, many knew his musical talents both playing and singing. His family meant the world to him and him to them. His family includes his parents, Eric & Mary Reynolds of Ladora, IA and Katherine & Michael Abernathy of Modesto, CA; brothers, Eric and Alexander; sisters, Rachel, Elizabeth and Samantha Reynolds; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Oxford and Iowa City is caring for Mathew’s family and his services.
