Obituary of Timothy Robert Goodwin, Sr.

Timothy Robert Goodwin Sr., died unexpectedly at his home Monday, May 25, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Tim’s Family will greet visitors prior to and after the service Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Tim’s sons. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Tim wish was to be cremated so he could always remain with his family. Tim was born January 6, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan to Mary Theresa (Shepard) and Robert Fredrick Goodwin. He grew up in California and graduated in 1974 from Granada Hills High School. His love of motorcycles and all things mechanical was apparent early on. He bought his first Harley in 1975 and it remains today, one of Tim’s most prized possessions. He shared his love of motorcycles with his father, Bob and beloved late uncle, Russell Goodwin whom he memorialized with one of his son’s middle names. They had shared many adventures. Throughout his life he honed his skills and became one of the areas best mechanics and high performance machinists. On January 7, 1995, Tim married Lynn (Tisinger) Foraker in Iowa City. Together they had three beautiful sons. Timothy Jr., 14, Christian Daniel, 9, and Jacob Russell, 6. Tim shared his love of racing and machining with the boys; two of them were riding motorcycles by the age of six, from there they were onto go karts and dragsters. Usually outspoken; Tim was an advocate for being independent in all things. His family includes his wife, Lynn; children all at home, Timothy Jr., Christian, and Jacob; father and his wife, Robert “Bob” and Dianne Goodwin of Phoenix, AZ; mother and her husband, Mary and Gus Nai of Citrus Heights, CA; sisters, Katherine (Stephen) Marks of Los Angles, CA., and their son, Zack; Robyn Morris of Citrus Heights, CA., and her daughter, Paige; brother, Gary Goodwin (Pat) of Simi Valley, CA, and their children, Gary Jr., Michael, Joseph and Christina. Tim is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his uncles, Richard Goodwin and Russell Goodwin. Tim was a loving father and husband.
