Obituary of Robert Wiley
Robert A. Wiley, 75 of Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City died Wednesday, September 9, 2009. As per Roberts wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa through the Deeded Body Program for scientific research. No services are planned. Bob Wiley was born September 5, 1934, in Ann Arbor, MI, the oldest son of Frank Hartman Wiley and Leona Elizabeth (Letson) Wiley. Bob and Josephine Helen Oleksy were married in Ann Arbor on December 10, 1955. He was a graduate of public schools in Maryland, The University of Michigan ( B.S. in Pharmacy), and The University of California, San Francisco (Ph. D in Pharmaceutical Chemistry). Following Army service in Europe, he taught Pharmacy at the University of Kansas for 22 years and at the University of Iowa for 16 years, including service as the Dean of the College of Pharmacy for 7 years. He also enjoyed his work with the Rotary Club and with Habitat for Humanity. Bobs family includes his wife, Josephine Jo Wiley of Iowa City, and their children, Elizabeth of Topeka, KS, Jim of Alpharetta, GA, and David of Longmont, CO; granddaughter, Alayna Wiley of Alpharetta, GA; two brothers, Frank Gerald Wiley of Englewood, OH and William Wiley of Burke, VA. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service of Iowa City is caring for Bobs family and his arrangements.
