Obituary of Jerry Martinson

Jerry L. Martinson, 62 of Iowa City died suddenly Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Private family graveside services will be held later at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jerry's memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Jerry Lee Martinson was born June 5, 1948, in Iowa City the son of George and Helen R. (Kelley) Martinson. He attended schools in Iowa City graduating from City High School with the class of 1969. He has been in the rental property and furniture restoration business for many years in this area. On June 5, 2004, he was united in marriage to Charla K. Rauch. Jerry enjoyed his country music, dancing, playing pool and cards with family and friends. His family includes his wife, Charla; son, Marty of North Liberty; grandchildren, Brittany and Tanner Martinson of North Liberty; mother-in-law, Arlene Rauch of North English; sister-in-law, Sherry Sinn (Augie) of Williamsburg; and his faithful friend, Riley his dog! Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sister and her husband, Julia and Duane Sharpless and a brother-in-law, Randy Rauch.
