Obituary of Ramona Mae Smith

Ramona M. Smith, 81 formerly of Iowa City died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Pioneer Village Care Center in Lone Tree. Ramona Mae Benson was born February 14, 1929, near Tipton, Iowa the daughter of Melvin and Cora (Werling) Benson. She was united in marriage to Gordon J. Smith on December 16, 1967, in Rock Island, IL. She has spent most of her lifetime in Iowa. Ramona was one who enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, especially fond of fishing. She was known by many for her cooking, and quilting, but most dear to her heart was spending time with her family. Her family includes two daughters, Debra Becker of Iowa City and Sandra Hites of Bunnell, Florida; 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 great-granddaughter, 1 great-grandson; and her brother, John Benson of Brainard, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gordon; daughter, Linda McCord; and her sister, Evelyn Reiland. Private services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
