I have known Bill for many yrs. as his wife was my very best friend before she passed away.Given our friendship I was pretty close to the entire family.
I always thought it was great that the whole family could go fishing and enjoy the time together doing this hobby.
I can remember driving through Iowa City and would see the crew of Iowa Gas & Electric working at the side of the road. I would honk or wave and some of them would wave back. Always friendly wherever I might see him.
As couples my husband & I along with Virginia & Bill used to go out on a weekend night to the Stardust, a small local bar. Being that it was a weekend there would be a band and I will never hear the songs "Wipe Out" and "Cocaine" without thinking of Bill after a few drinks jumping to his feet and dragging Virginia out on the dance floor. I really don''t think it was possible for him to sit while either of these songs played. It was fun to see him have such a good time.
Bill will always be a part of my memories of the "Good Old Days."
So sad to say good bye to another friend. May he be united again with Virginia.
