Back in 1959-1960 when I was Jan Dowhower and Jan Nisley and working at the University, I saw BB at church and babysat for her kids. I have fond memories of the family and remember her as a kind and welcoming person.

When I first started working at the Senior Center I had the good fortune of working with B. B. on the video taping of Calendar. I was SO nervous and she was SO calm. Thanks to B.B.'s support I actually looked like I knew what I was talking about.

I met Bebe when I moved to the Iowa City area 15 years ago when she was a young 75. Bebe was a vital, amazing person who became a good friend. We attended the same church and through that acquaintance she pulled me into continuing my active membership in AAUW. Then she encouraged me to become a volunteer in Senior Center TV because she knew that video editing was a strong interest of mine. At the time she hosted a monthly "Calendar" program for SCTV. She also was a lovely and gracious interviewer of many interesting people for Mature Focus programs. All the SCTV programs were and are on local cable TV channels. She also worked hard behind the camera as well as in front of it. She learned and kept up with editing when it switched from analog to digital-never too old to learn. I know that Bebe was very active at the Senior Center since it began in 1981, serving on leadership councils and participating in classes, and of course active at SCTV. I miss Bebe a lot.

B.B. spent many hours exchanging memories with her Senior Center friends in the Write Your Life Story group. Listening to B.B.'s memories of her loving and productive life was a joy. B.B. was always a positive source of encouragement to the other writers. She appreciated life.

We felt the happiness that welled up when she and David met again. We are glad B.B. and David had their time to share, We also miss our time with B.B. quite a bit.

My sympathy to the family on BB's death. She was truly one of the most cherished people I encountered at ICCT. She was always positive, even when she was struggling to learn her lines in Gold Pond. She was a marvelous person to know. THank you for sharing her with us.

One of the truly grand ladies I have had the honor to know as a supervisor, co-worker and friend. BeBe is and will always be the finest example of sophistication, warmth, caring and showing complete empathy for others who I will ever know. She enriched and continues to enrich all those who know her and has left a place in my heart that is filled with only warm memories of many joyful days. Although years pass and we all tend to go in different directions, take different routes, and fall short of staying in touch to the degree we really should, the truly meaningful people in our lives stay with us and are a part of us for our lifetimes. Bebe was not only a friend, but a mentor and confidente who will always remain a role model. Be it sitting and listening to recordings of Bruckner in her living room, gazing out at the aspen trees and feeling the sense of welcome that only she could bestow or engaging in discussions and planning to assist the fine people we served professionally, BeBe was always a person who gave all she had. I have not seen her for many years, but she, as a friend , is rather like the stars---you don't always see them, but you know they are there. My heartfelt sympathy to her entire family......May you all find peace in the reality that she wil always remain a part of you, no matter what the future holds.
