Condolences
To Avis's children;
What a great women you had for a mom.
I had your father as my swimming coach for my years at Central where I was constantly in trouble. So, it was natural that I met your mom while in treatment at CDU St Vincent's in 1976.
I remained friends with your mom from then on. I did not see her and Bob often but when I did it was like sunshine. Your mom had that way with people. Sunshine on a cloudy day!
I don't get the journal so I just found out about her passing. Blessings to you all.
I really liked your mom. She was such a peach!

Avis and Bob were a "class act". We always enjoyed their company. I will always remember when we were able to visit Avis, Bob, and boys at their Okoboji condo. Avis will be missed....
Avis and Bob have been a part of my family ever since I can rememeber. They actually hosted an engagement part for Tom and I. I will never forget it. I loved Avis very much. She was a big part of my life whil growing up. She and Bob only lived 6 blocks from our family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Provorse family.
Ron & I did not have the privilege of knowing Avis but we have had the honor of calling her youngest son, Jay, our friend. What an amazing son she has raised - he is so caring, compassionate, thoughtful, and above all funny. It is truly a blessing to have Jay's friendship in our life. I only wish we could have told Avis how special her son (and his family) are to us but something tells me she has heard it many times before. As a mother, I feel like my children are truly reflections of me and I can imagine how proud she was of all four of her reflections. God Bless Avis and the legacy she has left with her children and grandchildren.
Love,
Ron & Molly Rausch
LOVED AVIS!!!! So very sad to hear this news. Avis used to attend a water aerobics class that I used to teach at the Sioux City YMCA. Pleasant, funny, and a joy to have in class. My sincere sympathies.
Avis was always such a joyful person. I remember my mother was always grateful for her friendship. I pray her memory is only for a blessing.
My thoughts and prayers have been with your entire family this past week. Avis was a good friend and neighbor for many years. I was lucky enough to get the "rocking footstool" at the garage sale when you moved your mom up to North Park - and every time I use it I have a fond memory of times shared with the Provorse family. I'm hoping to make it over for the service on Saturday. God bless, Kathy Lennon
My husband and I would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of your beloved Avis. We would like to share with you something that has brought us much comfort at a similar time in our lives. John 11:14-44 shares with us the experience of Jesus resurrecting Lazarus here on earth before the very eyes of those he loved. We can only imagine the tears of joy when we too are reunited with our dear loved ones. (John 5:28,29) Avis will surely be missed by many of those who's lives she shared, remember the experiences you shared together and learn from them, hold them close to your heart and cherish them. May you find comfort from those who surround you at this very difficult time. Our sincere condolences to all of you
I am sorry to hear of Avis passing. My Mother Jan used to meet "The Nurses" for lunch periodically and always looked forward to this. She was a wonderful nurse at CDU. My Dad Jim always respected and thought a lot of her. CDU in the 70's couldn't be beat! It had some of the most warm and loving people. She will be missed. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. We knew both Bob and Avis as members of First Lutheran and then Morningside Lutheran churches in Sioux City. Bob coached all of our kids during his time at North High in Sioux City and both he and Avis always asked us about the kids, especially one of our daughters who played college soccer. He always kept up on her games and stats. Avis was a kind, gentle woman who always had a smile on her face. We enjoyed visiting with her at church on Sundays over the years.
