Nona, Your father gave so many of us joy with his smiles and wonderful joking manner. He is sadly missed by all that enetered into his life. They say that some people come into your life for a season and some for a reason, and I would like to think the reason Jim came into our lives so that he could leave us with fond memories of how life is seen from another point of view. Many prayers to you and your family. Celebrate this man's wonderful life, shed a tear, then remember something he did to make you laugh, and hold it tightly til the pain of loosing him lessens.

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim sure was a kind and generous man. I will

always think of him in his blue jump suit, tools in hand ready to tackle

an oil change, a window installation, any job that needed doing. So willing to share his time and considerable knowledge of so many things from home repairs to tax preparation. A generous heart and a wry sense of humor, he will be missed. My heart goes out to all the family at this time.

Chuck and Nona, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. Since I moved back to the area from California, I would occasionally drive down Leonard Tr. to see if Jim would be out there. I never did see him but at least it brought back found memories of the times myself and others would gather there for occasions You had a warm household where everyone felt welcome.

I work with Jim at the Internal Revenue Service for many years and we shared a lot of memories and good times. My wife and I visited Jim and Betty at their home many times and had a lot of laughs and shared a few tears also. Jim was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. I always kidded him about the enormous accumulation of workpapers stacked high on his desk as he was working his cases when I was a young agent. He would just look at me and shake his head. When Jim went to live in West Branch, I would call him and keep him informed of what was happening at the monthly IRS breakfasts. Jim was a great friend and I will miss him as he enters his journey to join Betty. God bless him.

My husband, Duane Waskow, (who passed away last August.) and I were friends with Betty and Jim. Duane and Jim worked out of the same office in Cedar Rapids. We were all four great bridge players, and even played at the annual IRS picnics and pot-lucks. All that was a long time ago...My condolences to the family. Pat Waskow
