Obituary of Linda E. Worby-Higgerson

Linda E. Worby-Higgerson, 60 of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Iowa City died suddenly at her home from complications of diabetes on Tuesday, April 26, 2011.. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Linda’s memory at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Linda Evelyn Roberts was born September 14, 1950, in Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of Burton and Evelyn (Howard) Roberts. Following graduation from Lincoln Community High School in Stanwood she married Dean Worby on December 7, 1968. While raising her children in Iowa City she also cared for other’s children. These families have fond memories of her love and care of their little ones during their formative years. She later opened up the Heavenly Cookie business, creating not only delicious cookies but very beautiful ones that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Linda then began with the companies of Access Direct and PRC, able to continue to help little children through the marketing of the Grow-Up Program with Gerber Life. She married Denny Higgerson on November 25, 1998. Linda enjoyed many things in her life, sewing for family and friends, bowling, softball, but most dear to her was her children and later grandchildren! Her family includes her husband, Denny; daughters, Paula L. Underwood (Luke) of Bristow, VA; and Julie M. Puentes (Ray) of Highlands Ranch, CO; step-sons, Ben Higgerson and Jon Higgerson; grandchildren, Hayley, Megan and Nicolas; sisters, Neta McMahon (Mike) of Cedar Rapids; and Colleen Leaf (Rob) of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, LaDonna Ostrander.
