Obituary of Henriette L. Vanden Berg

Henriette L. Vanden Berg, 90, formerly of Iowa City and Coralville, died Friday, September 9, 2011, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. Funeral services will be 10 am, Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorial contributions in Henriette's name can be made to Iowa City Hospice. (Parrott) Vanden Berg was born June 1, 1921, in St. Louis, MO; daughter of Charles and Anna (Neumann) Parrott. She married Richard K. Vanden Berg on June 30, 1949, in Iowa City. In her working years she worked for the University of Iowa in central sterilizing, retiring in 1983, after more than 20 years of service. Her family includes her children; Charles Vanden Berg of Coralville, Nicholette (Nic) Kelso (Brian) of Kalona, Andrew Vanden Berg of Oxford, Rebecca Griffin (Roger) of Wellman, Glenna DeSchamp (Doug) of Wellman and Brian Vanden Berg of Oxford, brothers; Donald Parrott of Cedar Rapids and Leo Parrott of Sunnyvale, CA, sister; Ursula Teggatz of Iowa City; as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents, brothers; Charles, Robert, Herman, Stephen, Joseph and Kenneth Parrott and sisters; Anna Mary Parrott and Celeste Anderson.
