Obituary of Ruth M. Woods

Ruth M. Woods, 85, of West Branch, formerly of Iowa City, died Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Crestview Care Center in West Branch. Ruth M. Winters was born June 9, 1926; daughter of Fred and Aagot Winters. She attended school in Staten Island and on May 19, 1956 married Donald J. Woods in Muscatine, Iowa. Ruth worked for Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for over twenty years. She was a dedicated and hard working woman, but also took time to enjoy life, especially with a good game of Bingo. She adored anything related to Betty-Boop but cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a born-again Christian baptized August 26, 2006. Her family includes her three sons; George (Gail) Mcllrath of Cherokee Village, AR, Terry (Jenny) Mcllrath of Cocoa Beach, FL, and David (Kathie) Mcllrath of West Branch, IA, step-sons; Donald Woods of Chandler, AZ. and Anthony (Pam) Woods of Iowa City, IA; step-daughters, Norma Binz and Joan Stanfield both of Iowa City, IA. and a sister, Doris Winters of New York, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Woods; parents; five sisters, Lillian, Eleanor, Alice, Helen and June, and brothers Joe and Arthur. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to the West Branch High School Fine Arts Committee.
