Obituary of Michael R. Langford
Michael R. "Mike" Langford, 73 of Iowa City, formerly of Washington, Iowa died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Mercy Hospital under the compassionate care of the Hospice Unit.
Masonic Memorial Services will be held at 5pm Saturday, March 14, 2015, conducted by the Grand Lodge of Iowa at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 5:30pm Saturday at the funeral home with the Reverend Royce Phillips officiating, followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Uvalde, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Mike's memory to the Mission Fund of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville.
Michael Roy Langford was born October 6, 1941, in Uvalde, Texas, the son of LeRoy and Evelyn (Proctor) Langford. Following graduation from high school, he went on to college where he received a business degree in accounting. For many years he worked as an accountant and later in data analysis, retiring from Harcourt Brace (Pearson) in San Antonio, Texas. In retirement he moved to Washington, Iowa and later to Iowa City to be closer to family. Mike was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge.
His family includes his sister, Linda Flowers of Coralville, and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara June Taylor.
