Obituary of Marie O. Rigg

Marie O. Rigg, 87 of Iowa City died Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Coralville. Marie O. Gulledge was born October 8, 1924, in Gasden, Alabama the daughter of W.D. and Nellie (Phillips) Gulledge. She married Ernest H. "Ernie" Rigg on March 25, 1944, in Gasden, Alabama. The couple and their family lived in the Keokuk area for a number of years and she and Ernie moved to the Iowa City Ecumenical Towers in 1980. She had resided for over 20 years here. She loved being in the downtown area and being with all her friends from the towers. Her family includes her son, Don Riggs of Keokuk; grandson, Brian Riggs of Nauvoo, IL; and her granddaughter, Stacy Riggs of Dunbar, WV. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, and her son, Dennis Rigg. Her family will hold a private ceremony; no public memorial services are planned.
