Theodore "Ted" Rittenmeyer
1928 - 2012
Condolences
I was Kim McBride when Mary Jo knew me.
I well remember what a gentleman Mr. Rittenmeyer was when he came by the office and envied Mary Jo having such a faithful, caring Father. And I well remember her Matt as a boy in 1979-1980.
So sorry for your loss and hope God's comfort is near and real for all of you.
Questions or Comments: On behalf of My wife Marcha and me, I wanted to offer my condelences to the family of Ted Rittenmeyer. He was a good man and a person I looked up too as a young boy!! he will be missed.

SUE, ED & FAMILY, I WAS SORRY TO HEAR FOR TEDS'S PASSING. I KNOW HE'LL BE MISSED. THINKING OF YOU.
I have so many fond memories of Ted. The first time I met him, he lived on Court Street in the house I was born in. I had asked Vicky Houston, who lived to the east of him, if she thought it would be OK to ask Ted to "tour" his house since we had moved from there when I was about a year old. He was very kind to give not only me and my parents, Jo and Bill, a tour, but Priscilla, who had spent many years visiting my family there in the late 50's....we know where that went!!!:).
Since that time there are many memories of their visits to my parent's home for "cocktails" and dinner. Ted was a good man and a great human being. I admire him for his dedication to his family, friends and his sobriety, yet could make the best brandy manhattens, from what I understood. I know you will miss him, but I know he is with his Source and is at peace.
My deepest sympathy.
Cindy Barnes Guerra.
Our thoughts are with you in your time of grief.
I just wanted the family to know that I really enjoyed the small service at the visitation and seeing maryjo, mike sue and priscilla. I thought alot of ted and didn't see him enough. ted gave a santa to my dad when he owned cruchy dip and my mom kept it till she died and we gave it to debbies daughter amanda who wanted only that. She now displays it at christmas, a part of ted we will never forget. take care, linda

I helped care for Ted in some of is better days. I met a few of his children and really enjoyed Precilla. My heart goes out to all his friends and family. Ted is truly missed. He was a wonderful person and God has taken a good man aboard his new journey. You are not longer suffering and can do the things you longed to do again. Love you much Ted!
My "Uncle Ted" is only 11 years older than, and as a boy he was more like an older brother than an uncle. I have found memories of family get togethers with "Uncle Ted" and his family. I left Iowa City in 1966 but on my visits to back to Iowa City I often went to visit with "Uncle Ted". I enjoyed his sense of humor and he was a great story teller. I admired his love of family, friends, home town, and country. He will remain in my memories and my uncle who also served as a big brother, Gary Rittenmeye
We have known Ted for along time and will miss him. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Our condolences on the passing of your father. He was always such a cheerful man. I remember spending many Thanksgivings with Margie and Ted and kids--great food and fellowship! We can all take comfort in knowing that he's now at peace and with all the family members and friends he loved throughout life.
Ted was one of the finiest men I know, he loved his family and country. He flew the flag often and now his son does the same thing. He truly will be missed.
Ted was a wonderful gentleman who touched the lives of more people than he could ever realized. For the past 20-years he was an avid supporter of Camp Courageous. He played a very important role during this period of rapid growth. Ted lived long enough to see the camp top the 6,000 campers served in a year. For many years Eldon Stutsman and Ted would make the journey to Camp Courageous with cases of plasticware, they had cleaned and sanitized from the Old Capitol Kiwanis. After Eldon's death, Ted's dear friend and wonderful lady, Priscilla Wright would assist Ted. Ted Rittenmeyer was as good as they come, and he will be dearly missed by the campers and staff, here at Camp Courageous. Our sympathy goes out to Ted's family and many friends.
Mike and the entire family of Ted . You all have my sympathies on the passing of your dad . Ted was a great guy and always had time to stop and chat for a few. You are all in my thoughts and prayers god bless you all .
Spike
We are praying for you all. Ted always had a smile and was always ready to visit and have a good time when we were together. He will be missed but I bet Dad had the golf clubs ready when Ted got there and they are having a game.
