I well remember when Rev. Pearson first came to our little town. He was young, energetic and totally dedicated to his vision of what the Exira Christian Church could be. Within a very short time, our church changed. The pews filled up (not just at Easter) and the youth programs became relevant to young people what a unique idea.
Rev. Pearson baptized me and my parents. He officiated at my mother's funeral only a few years later. He wrote a letter of recommendation when I applied to college. He and his entire family regularly came out to our farm to visit my father and sister after my mother passed away. At the time, I was away at college or in the military so I never had the opportunity to express my gratitude for the support he provided to my family during those days.
This is just a story of Rev. Pearson's place in the life of one family. How many other stories are out there that will never be told? He dedicated his life to serving God, his church and his fellow man. During all of those years, he would have touched the lives of so many people who were lost and hurting. Truly, we can say that our world is a better place because he was here.
