Condolences
Really I miss you, my dear Mr. Montross
Richard, I miss you so very very much. It hurts. I told Barbara about the amazing dream I had about you, I feel you were truly there. I know you are watching and caring for her.
Barb....We were so sorry to hear about Richard! Chris always loved knowing that he was coming into the office so they could "talk cars!" The whole staff loved listening to stories about his worldly travels too! We are just sorry that we lost contact and didn't know that he was so sick! Please know that you are in our prayers!
My sincere condolences and all my best thoughts to all the family in this sad moment.
I had the chance to meet Richard in Europe 10 years ago. We had since a very pleasant and longlasting business relationship until his time of retirement.
I greatly appreciated Richard during these years.
Best regards,
Barb, the loss of Richard has affected me profoundly. You two have always been an Aunt and Uncle the myself and Matthew. I remember badminton in your back yard. Jumping on a pile of fall leaves ( which didn't make him too happy at the time but is a funny memory as I was too young to know better). I remember Easter and other celebrations at his parents home. A parade one summer and his grandfather whom literally removed a giant bee hive with his bare hands from a building, and never got stung. Richard taught me to drive and he is ever present in my head when I do, to this day, with his advice. You taught me that if one was late starting supper just sautée onions in butter even if the recipe doesn't require it. I could go on and on. You two have been a part of my life since I was very young and I am so saddened he is gone and feeling your grief intensely. When it rains it pours. And it is a hard journey. I love you, Sarie

Richard and I worked together at Connect-A-Dock for 8 years. In that time he went from a hardworking, respected co-worker to a close personal friend. He has taught me more about international business and life than I ever could imagine. I will miss our conversations and visits to Iowa City. He was honest, generous and straight forward in his business dealings and in life. He took interest in my life and my wife and children's.
His passion for his former customers is witnessed in the great tributes being left in his memory. He will be missed by all who knew him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I will miss my friend but he is in no pain and in a better place. God bless.
Barb:

Barb, Cleo, Irene, Dale & Family,
Barb - I was so sorry to hear the sad news about Richard. I always believed if anyone could beat melanoma it would be him. That just goes to show what a relentless disease it is. He fought it with everything he had. I will miss his sense of humor and our fun chats at Java House or over an occasional lunch or dinner. He travelled the world over many times but his favorite place was at home with you. You were a great pair. The world has lost a wonderful guy and a devoted Hawkeye. He will be missed by us all.
BARB AND JILL. I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT RICHARD. MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU AND I WILL REMEMBER YOU IN MY PRAYERS. TAKE CARE

While Richard was at Connect-A-Dock, he provided a field studies course for myself and five students during spring semester 2010. Our challenge was to find a dock distributor in Chile. As a marketing faculty professor, I led the class. The students were double majors in Marketing and Spanish. We were scheduled to go to Chile over spring break, but there was a major earth quake days before we were supposed to leave for Chile. We cancelled the spring break trip, but went after the semester was over. For some of the students, this meant finishing a course after they had graduated. I am not sure that Connect-A-Dock ever found a distributor in Chile, but the students and I had a once in a life time experience that we still talk about today. Many thanks, Richard, for your mentorship on the project and for your generous support of international business education at the Tippie College of Business.
I offer you my deepest condolences on this dark day.
Barb, I am so sorry for your loss. You have my sympathy. Take care.
