Arthur L. "Art" Miller, 81 longtime resident of Oxford died suddenly following Easter Sunrise Services, April 5, 2015. He attended school in the area and later enlisted in the United States Navy serving nearly two years. On May 20, 1961, he married Arlene Marie Smith at the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. The couple later made their home in Oxford where they raised their family and have lived for over 45 years. Art was a truck driver, he drove truck for the University of Iowa for over thirty years, the next ten plus years for City Carton, and he then enjoyed working on the farm for Ray Hruby. Art was one of the founding members of the Oxford Hands of Christ Worship Center, a member of the Cedar Rapids Emmaus Community, and he enjoyed volunteering at the Veterans Administration Hospital in his retirement. Art was a father who supported everything his kids were into, from sports, church, 4-H and boy scouts as a leader. He enjoyed Blue Grass Music, camping, roller coasters (the higher and faster the better), tubing on Apple River, riding RAGBRAI (even though he didn't believe in biking shorts, long pants did the trick!) and so many other things that involved his family, who he dearly loved. Art was one of those who knew no stranger, often the last one to leave a conversation, always willing to share a story, and the first to help in any way he could. He will be missed by many friends, family and strangers who never met him, but should have. His family includes his wife, Arlene; children, Marylin Krueger (Dennis) of Homestead; Marlene Kluxdal (Lon) of Tiffin; Julie Seitz of Oxford; Janet Schultz (Laurie Barker) of Branson, MO; and Dale Miller (Carmen) of Ankeny, IA; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers, Lester Miller (Anna Mae) of Ackley, and Alfred "Shorty" Miller of Mason City; and Art's faithful companion, his dog, Jezbel better known by him as Mutt. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harry, Floyd and Alvin (his twin) and 3 other siblings in infancy.
