I have such happy memories of the several occasions when you were both little and your Mom introduced me to your lovely Grandma. She was always sweet and gracious, & proud of you girls. I was blessed to meet her, and will always remember her warm smile. I think of your Mom often, and the fun times we

had together as your neighbors.

I have many memories of the Sparby family when living in Clarion. Ronnie; Debbie; and I played many hours on a swing set between our two homes. Helen was very kind and I have fond memories of my early childhood because of knowing the Sparby family. Al and Helen had the first VW "bettle" in Clarion and I recall, to this day, being so impressed. My condolences to Helen's family and friends.

My name is Steve Ponsetto, I am currently serving as the Interim Commissioner of the Iowa Dept of Public Safety (DPS) which encompasses the Iowa State Patrol. Lt. Alvin and Helen Sparby were members of the DPS family and we express our sincere condolences to the Sparby family on the passing Mrs. Sparby.

Helen, but our family called her "Dolly" and that she was!! She was 18 years older than I, but she always seemed like my "big sister" She was so much fun to visit every summer. She fixed on my hair, getting it cut or doing a home permanent. I remember one time I stayed with her, Glamour Girl was a TV program, so while we watched the program, we put mud packs on our faces. It dried hard and we weren't supposed to smile or the "mud" would crack. Needless to say, we got the giggles and our facials were ruined. She was so much fun to be with. With all of the hard times she experienced, she never complained. She just dealt with what happened and still kept her positive attitude. I enjoyed our phone conversations so much, and of course, Dolly always had a joke to share. She will be missed so much. She was the best sister anyone could want. So happy you will be united with Alvin, Deb and Ron. Peace be with you both, Tonya and Kim. You are such wonderful granddaughters and know how much your grandmother loved you.

My heart hurts so much for you in the loss of your dear grandmother. She was a wonderful woman with the kindest heart. I know my grandma will miss so much their coffee dates, neighborhood gossip and breakfasts at Hardee's. Ferndale Drive will definitely not be the same without her. May you find strength, peace in happiness during this difficult time in remembering the many fond memories of an incredible being. Thinking of you.
