Robert L. "Bob" Unzeitig
1949 - 2015
Condolences
It seems unimaginable that I'll never again see Bob's shy smile and friendly wave as he made his daily jaunt through our neighborhood. He and his beloved dogs seemed to merge into one as they rounded the corner of my block. At ACT, he had an unflinching work ethic and seemed undaunted by the constant cascade of deadline pressures, always keeping his eye on the ultimate prize--delivering excellent products and services to his clients. In the face of it all, he maintained his sense of humor and kindness. He was simply a beautiful human being. I was so happy for him when he took early retirement to pursue the things he loved. I feel certain that his indefatigable love for life will continue into the next life.
Bob was a neighbor of mine and a friend. We shared stories of our dogs and our work. He was truly a gentleman and a nice person. I will miss him.
As I got to know Bob in the last year we realized we had taken classes together and shared political projects in college. I discovered a kindred spirit and will miss him sorely, but will take comfort knowing he now rests easy.
We at the Johnson County Crisis Center Thursday shifts will miss Bob greatly. You have our deepest sympathy.
Although I didn't work directly with Bob, over the years we shared many hallway smiles and conversations. And the sight of him in his amazing fur hat never failed to brighten a winter day. His kindness and cheerful spirit always made me glad that our paths crossed.
Bob was a kind and caring person. He had lots of interests. I will miss him.
He was very loved.
My sincere sympathies to his family. I got to know Bob when he volunteered at Iowa City Community Theatre. He was a joy to work with and he was eager to learn more about making theater happen. The world is a better place because he was a part of our lives.
Hard to accept that Bobby is gone...our eldest cousin on Mom's side of the family. He was lots of fun and we shared many birthday parties and Christmas eves together...Will always miss him and his sis, Marilynn...hoping you rest in God's light and love, Marge and family
Bob will be deeply missed. I lived behind Bob and my mother Charlene lived next door to him. We could not have asked for a better neighbor. Always willing to help others out. Bob will be missed by many.
I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a nice guy with a dry wit. I'm sure we will all see him again, God willing.
Bob was a caring man who was dedicated to his family and to those in need. On Thursday afternoons he would be at the Johnson County Crisis Center Food Bank helping those he felt were less fortunate than he. Throughout his illness and treatment he would volunteer even when he wasn't feeling well. He never hesitated to step in to assist people in crisis. The other Thursday volunteers and I will miss his dedication, determination, and kindness.
Bob was a good friend of our family. He loved to go to parks and recreational areas to ride the rides and laugh with the children because Bob was a child himself. He was there for me to give me hope for a better life and always had a solid opinion on what to do to manage our lives better. He loved ice cream and always had enough to offer when we would visit. Bob, you will be missed and we loved you. Anna Scillo
Bob was one of the "smart" people from high school, good grades, analytical mind, very much driven by philosophy. We both attended U of Iowa, and stayed in random connection since. The list of his high school antics and pranks showed his creative streak (and would fill this space). His ability to live independently over the years is testament to his tenacity. Bob's presence in our lives is well remembered and he is missed.
Bob and I shared more than a few laughs during our time at ACT . . . he had a great sense of humor and a keen grasp of 'the right thing'. It's sad that he had so few years to enjoy the fruits of his labor . . . he will be sorely missed.
With a heavy heart, sending our sympathy to Bob's family and friends. He was that wonderful cousin, always kind and thoughtful...we will miss you always.
Bob Unzietig was my cousin and myself being much younger of the Ryan siblings did not get to know cousin "Bobby" as well as my siblings, never the less he was a sweet peaceful man whom loved his family and sadly lost his parents and most recently his beloved sister About a year ago. My Mother His aunt Carole Ryan made every effort to include him in many holiday gatherings of late. I feel sad that he had to fight his illness which really took a toll on him but Bob never complained he was a true fighter and I will miss him dearly. R.I.P. Cousin Bobby it does my heart well to know that you are now reunited with your Mom and Dad and your sister in Christ.......Joe Ryan son of Vincent and Carole Ryan
I knew Bob really well. We both worked at ACT and had many conversations together at break time. I send my sincere condolences.

Thoughts and prayers to all that are dealing with the loss of this kind man. May your memories of his kindness help you heal during this difficult time.
I enjoyed working with Bob many years. Deadlines were always met because of his leadership and organization skills.
His retirement was cut short but he lived a busy good life. He will be missed by his retired ACT coffee gang .
Bob was a classmate of mine at LaSalle. My fondest memories of Bob were on the high school wrestling team. I remember Bob as being a tough and gritty competitor in wrestling practices, but once the whistle blew and the practice was over, he was a good friend and teammate. I lost track of Bob after high school, but was fortunate enough to catch up with him a few times over the last couple of years at Leonardo s pizza outings with other classmates. Bob was a nice guy who will be missed by all who knew him.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Bob was a classmate at LaSalle, and I enjoyed catching up at our Leonardo gatherings.
Bob was a class mate at LaSalle and he had the room next door to me in a rooming house in Iowa City while we both were in undergrad school. Bob was a faithful and caring friend. I'm am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I am even more saddened that I did not know of his recent struggles. He will be in my prayers and in my memory.
I had the pleasure of working with Bob for a couple of decades at ACT. He was always caring, conscientous, well organized, and on top of his game. He kept meticulous records and he would quote something I said 3 years before and have the email archive to prove it! I was deeply saddened to hear of his illnes and now his passing. I wish he could have had the long and happy retirement he had planned for. He will be missed by all that lknew him.
I more or less lost contact with Bob when I moved to Canada, but I will always have fond memories of time shared with Bob so many years ago. So sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with you all.
my condolences, I worked with Bob for many years and I always liked him very much
I want to express my sympathy and let Jeremy and Katie know that my thoughts are with you. Many of us will be remembering times spent with Bob at ACT during his younger years!
Live your story, faith hope and glory, hold to the truth in your heart,
If we hold on together, I know our dreams will never die,
Dreams see us through to forever, as time goes by, for you and I.
