Obituary of Robert P. Frantz
Robert P. "Bob" Frantz, 79, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at the Solon Nursing Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City followed with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Friday at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in Bob's memory. Robert Paul Frantz was born March 19, 1933, in Williamsburg, Iowa the son of Paul A. and Alma (Druecker) Frantz. He attended schools in Iowa City graduating with the class of 1953 from City High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob married Mazita M. Allick in February of 1970. For a number of years Bob worked in the construction profession, working with Metro Pavers. Then for over twenty years Bob and Zita owned and operated the Pines Motel in Postville. Bob was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, but most of all, his family was his world, he loved them as they loved him dearly!
His family includes his wife, Zita; children, Kelly Neuhart (Kurt) of Shueyville; John Kruger of Deleware; Roxie Steve (Vern) of Iowa City; and Heide Wehbe (Hadi) of Dallas, TX; 8 grandchildren, Holly Kuboushek (Jake); Gracie, Ben and Will Steve; Sam, Zach, Molly and Ramsey Wehbe; 3 great-granddaughters, Charlie, Harper, and Quincy Kuboushek; brothers, James Frantz (Kay), Larry Frantz, and Jerry Frantz all of Iowa City; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John "Jack" Frantz and two sisters-in-law.
