Obituary of Amie Foster

Amie "Lois" Foster, 86, of Iowa City, died Sunday, April 7, 2013. A service celebrating Lois' life will take place 1 p.m., Saturday, April 13th at Parkview Church in Iowa City. Online condolences can be sent to her family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Amie Lois (Caquelin) Foster was born January 8, 1927, in Wright County, Iowa; daughter of Raymond and Ethel (Shillington) Caquelin. She grew up in Eagle Grove and in 1959 married Floyd Foster Jr, and lived in California Bay area. She lived in Omaha for most of her adult life, working for Northwestern Bell for over 37 years, retiring as the area manager of training. Living God's will was very important to Lois, whether at her church in Omaha, Center Baptist Church or among peers in one of her many groups such as the NW Bell Pioneers, or the Christian women's business fellowship. After moving to Iowa City in 2007, she became a member of Parkview Evangelical Free Church. She was also very willing to help others, as she tutored for many years adults with learning disabilities, and was very proud of being a 10 gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross. Most of all, she cherished her family, which includes her sons, David (Ione) Foster of Iowa City and Dean (Maralee) Foster of Des Moines; grandchildren, Rachel (Patrick) Cronin, Hannah, Bethany, Calvin and Lauren Foster; siblings, Melvin Caquelin (Norma) of Sierra Madre, California, Richard Caquelin (Donna) of Sun City, Arizona, Kenneth Caquelin (Norma) of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Rachael Kvapil of Bettendorf, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; parents; brother, Don and his wife, Evelyn and brother-in-law, John Kvapil.
