Condolences
So very sad to hear of Julia's passing. Julia and I became friends during our high school years at West High. Even though we lost touch during the years whenever we did run into each other it was like we hadn't missed a beat. Julia had the most heart warming smile and such a great laugh. These are the two things I remember most about her. My sincere sympathy to her family.
Dave,
So sorry to here about Julia. We will keep You and Julia in our prayers. May God be with you in your time of need.
Sincerely,
Steve
So sorry for your loss Dave. Condolence goes out to you and the family members. May the wonderful memories and her zest for life comfort you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I just wanted to share that I have been thinking of Julia and how much I looked up to her as a child. She was a close friend of my mother's, Nita Dalton. Julia was always so kind to me. I was probably 7 or 8 years old when they were hanging out together at George's. Julia had the best laugh and oh the prettiest hair. She would always let me play with her hair. To me, she was just like Crystal Gayle with that long hair. :) What a friendly soul she was.
I also have fond memories of Nick, who would entertain me with his coin tricks and sticky fingers. I am sorry for your loss. She's such a beautiful daughter.
Dave, we've never met, but I've heard some great stories about you already from my parents. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My thougts have been with you all week. I never had the pleasure of meeting Julia. I know the kind of person you are and she was lucky to have had you in her life. God bless your memories.

From the first time I met Julia, to the last time I saw her too many years ago, Julia ALWAYS made me laugh. Julia was my friend and protector when we moved next door to her in Grinnell. Years later when we both lived in Iowa City, she had not changed. I can hear her gut laugh still today. My condolences to her family.
I am very sad to hear of Julia's passing. I remember when she moved to Iowa City. We boarded our horses at the same barn. Always happy and smiling. She had a great love for all animals and was an accomplished and fearless rider. My condolences to her family. She will be missed.
So sad to hear of Julia's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family. I remember Julia as always having a smile on her face and a great laugh. I enjoyed seeing pictures of her surrounded by so many loved ones. I am sure she will be greatly missed.
Julia has always been a life long friend of our family. From our early childhood years at Bailey Park Elementary to our later years at West High School Iowa City, I can say that she was truely loved by everyone.
I have very fond childhood memories of Julia and all the Ryan cousins. Julia always was a character and had such spunk! Although we only got back to visit every year or two since we lived in California, I cherish those trips to see the family! Sadly, I didn't keep in touch after our high school years.
We were saddened to learn of Julia's passing. We are so sorry....please know we are thinking of the entire family. Julia was a kind, gentle woman. We enjoyed seeing her with Nick at Iowa tailgates. Sending our deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry. Please know I am thinking of all of you.
David, Mike and I are so very sorry for your loss. Even though we did not personally know your wife, it sounds as if she was a wonderful person. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family. Mike and Gwen
First of all, I want to send my deepest sympathies to all of Julia's family and all who were fortunate to know a TRUELY AMAZING person such as Julia.
I was shocked to have read that she passed away and a piece of my heart broke.
I have known Julia for MANY years.and I always thought SO highly of her and it is truly amazing how wonderful of a person she was (it is too bad MORE people are not like herI haven't in my years ever met such a great true and honest person). You were VERY fortunate to have known Julia and it is VERY unfortunate if you haven't. It is unfortunate for me that I have not talk/seen her in two years or so.
One (out of many) of the memories I have about Julia is I also was a competitor pool play. What Patti Ireland said is right about when you play against Julia, you better be on your game. There were only a few times were our games was pretty close. Julia would make a few in a row, and then I would do the same but then I would get too cocky and miss one right in front of me and that was game for Julia. Julia said to me Tammy you know what your problem is, you need to slow down so she gave me this tip (that I still have in my head to this day) that to chalk up between each shot..that way while you're chalking up you can walk away the table and look at each shoot so you can see how you want to leave yourself on the next shot so you're able to run the table. After thinking about what she said we were playing against each at Mumm's and I actually just barely bet her (but she told me she was having some personal issues so I don't think her head was fully in the game because that would be the only way I could win). After I bet her Julia said Tammy, want to play again and she would have this HUGE smile on her face and BIG bright beautiful eyes. I would be like ok. After the game I would be lucky to clear 2-3 balls after Julia got done (she smoked me)!
Julia was truly a treasure and she will be GREATLY missed!!
May you find comfort in knowing that Julia's love of life, family, and friends will live on in the lives of her loved ones.
Julia will be missed by many, such a great person. We were honored to call her our friend.

Nick Ryan, and Family,
I played Julia for years as a competitor in pool leagues, and I have 2 very distinct memories-
1. Whenever you came up against Julia, you know you were in one of the best matches of your life. Julia always brought her best game, and you had better be on your best game too!
2. Julia loved to play barefoot- and many times the bar owners would get a little worried about potential injuries, etc, but Julia would just play on.
Nick, we are so very sorry and wish we could be there, but we will be on our way home from Phoenix. You are are in our thoughts and our prayers. Jack and Nola
Our hearts, like everyones' , are broken. I will always remember our
"cheat sheets" for physics. Julia could write smaller, and therefore have more formula's, than anyone else. Our daughter, Cory, is very sad. Julia was always wonderfully kind to Cory. And Cory ALWAYS begged to play with Julia's hair.
"Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it just to reach you, Julia".
David and all of the family, my heart is with you in your time of grief. Know that prayers are being said for you and love being sent your way.
So sorry for your loss Dave. It was always great to run into you both in Iowa City and Wapello. Always remember the good times.
Dave
Julia was a lovely lady with nice smile and warm personality! She will be missed!
Julia truly embodied the philosophy of a life lived for others. Her love of her community and her dedication to justice are an example to us all and should serve as an inspiration in our own lives. She made a difference in the lives of others and that is a life that she - and we - can be proud of.
