Condolences
Rice family:
Mr. Rice was my first boss. While attending Iowa City Commercial College I was employeed as a part time Bill of Lading Clerk @ RIMT. He was a very understanding boss, especially when I would have packages listed on the wrong truck bill, thus sending the package to Chicago instead of Des Moines or Kansas City. I enjoyed our "working" relationship and the friendship maintained whenever we would happen to meet.
I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I know he is at peace. I remember coming over to your house with my family (early 60's ish- watching TV while the folks played cards. I believe I was the youngest of the group (brothers Doug in Sioux City and Al(len) deceased) and kept leaving the room during scary parts of a show. I loved your dad - my memory was a real cool guy that would speak to me at church. My parents (Jane and Don (deceased) Davis) thought and thinks a lot of all of you. My prayers of peace go out to all of you. With God's love.
Dear Shirley and Donna,
I met your dad when I was a little girl, when our families belonged to the Iowa City Family Campers. We were good pals. I'll never forget him taking my hand and us going off together in search of firewood for the big bonfire we'd always share in the evenings. He had a big heart and was such fun. In recent years he lived just across the hall from my folks, Velma and Leonard, and it was wonderful to get to drop in and say hi when I was in town. He always had a big welcome and smile ready for us.
He was a wonderful man. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Donna and Shirley,
I am so sorry to read of your father's passing. Having just lost my father May 6th, I want to let you know I feel the tumult you are experiencing and hope that the fond memories help you get through this time. I hope you both are doing well.
Donna and Shirley,
Our hearts go out to you and your family as we share your loss. From family camping, to trips to Hawaii and Australia and wintering in Arizona, we cherish those special moments with both of your parents. We will never forget the smile Manford carried with him everywhere he went and the sense of humor that continually bubbled from within him. Know that your dad holds a special place in our hearts. We will be praying for you. Dick & Jane
Donna and Shirley,
We want to send our sincere sympathy in the death of your father. What a great man he was--distinguished, loving, humorous, and so caring to your Mother after her illness. We met your parents and you at the Hawk pregame hot dog feasts at Jim and Marie's. They lived across the street from us and became dear friends, as well as surrogate grandparents to our three children.
I also took care of your Mom in the eye clinic at UIHC when her eye problems began. They were a loving, fun couple who brought much happiness into your lives and I know how much they are missed.
We will be out of town and unable to attend services for your Dad, but our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
Dick and Karen
