Obituary of Judy C. Bogs
Judy C. Bogs, 71, of Iowa City, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, under the compassionate and skillful care of Mercy Hospice and Iowa City Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow at the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Judy's memory to Iowa City Hospice or Iowa City Cancer Care Clinic. Judy Carleen Love was born October 17, 1941, in Panora, Iowa the daughter of Charles Elmer Love and Statta (Thorn) Love. She was raised in Panora where she graduated from high school in 1958. On January 21, 1961, she was united in marriage to Ronald L. Bogs in the Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City. Since before her marriage she has made Iowa City home, caring for her family and many children of many families for over 35 years. She enjoyed her bowling in the Iowa City Bowling league, loved to vacation with her family, whether it was fishing in Canada, stopping at a casino in Vegas, or simply finding a park for the day, she loved the simple things in life, but most importantly, her family! She was always there at all her kid's school events, and as the grandkids came along, grandma was right there again.
Her family includes daughters, Julie Jensen of Iowa City and Sheila Kassera and her husband, Brian of Golden Colorado; sons, Thomas Bogs and his wife, Danielle of Iowa City and Rick Bogs and his wife, Roselyn of Thornton, Colorado; grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica and Alex Bogs, Cody, Mary, Joseph, and Jenny Jensen, Dean Ellwanger (Monica), Charmine Wilson (Adam), Ronald Charles Bogs, Kayla Bogs, Jennifer Ferdig, Stephen Lopezi, Nicholas and Emily Kassera, ; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, William and Benjamin; brothers, Kenny Love of Carson, IA and Wayne Love (Carol) of Marble Rock, IA; sister-in-law, Mari Love of Des Moines; and a number of very special persons to the Bogs family, Mark and Matt Akers, Dee and David Salisbury, and Tyler and Jen Kruse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; sisters, Phyllis Knapp, Lucille Solley, Velma Pryor and Melba Hardman; and two brothers, Joy and Terri Love.
Judy's family wishes so thank the staff , nurses, doctors at Mercy Hospital; Iowa City Hospice and everyone at Iowa City Cancer Clinic for their tremendous care, compassionate ways, and support of our Mom; we will always remember what you have done for us!
