I am very fortunate to have known Randy through Hills Little League. His step-daughter, Rochelle, & my daughter, Katie, are the same age & we coached them together all the way from Kindergarten/T-Ball through 6th Grade/Little Stars. You can imagine how loud, rowdy, & obnoxious a group of 12-15 little girls can be...But I don't ever remember Randy getting mad or upset or losing his temper! He was on of the nicest guys I've ever known & I will miss seeing him around town or at Hy-Vee!
Randy will be missed by many. I will never forget when Randy and Randy Kaefring and I bowled in the state. Wow is all I can say for such a fun/good time. I always wanted him to work on my daughters cars when he worked at Iowa City Tire because I knew they would be safe on the road with him looking at the car. R.I.P. my friend. Prayers are with you all Jackie and family. God Bless You All.
Jackie & Family:

We are so sorry for your loss! He was a nice man and will be greatly missed! You are in our thoughts and prayers!
I had the pleasure of having Randy in several of my classes over the past couple of years at Kirkwood. He had obvious natural talent in the kitchen, and I always enjoyed our sidebar conversations when I walked around to his station.
Jackie and family, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. As shocked as I am, I can't imagine what you all are going through. Please know that if you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will be sending lots of love and prayers your way.
Many blessings, Anne
Jackie, What a pleasure to work and be around Randy. The sparkle in his eyes was contagious. He always spoke to me when he was in the office. I know he genuinely cared for his fellow students and I am sure he loved to see them mature and grow in their knowledge and passion of the Culinary Arts. Hearts are heavy right now but the fond memories live on for all of us.
Although I can say that Randy was a student in my Human Relations class, he was so much more. I learned so much from Randy. His eyes lit up every time he talked of his wonderful wife and his family.. and, of course, his cooking. He was so passionate about life and his opportunity to learn. Randy learned that I could not eat dairy so he made special coconut macaroons and brought them to class to share. His positive attitude and strong work ethic affected everyone in the class. One of his classmates sent me a message to share --Kagiso from South Africa said, "Randy was so passionate about his studies and culinary.. May his soul rest in peace!" I am so sad to hear of his passing. I am out of town at a conference so will not be able to personally attend the service so through this message, I hope you know that Randy was a gem...a student I will long remember. So sorry to hear about Randy's passing Jackie. He was a nice, friendly and always smiling. Prayers go out to you and your family...
I am truly saddened by the passing of Randy. I was only fortunate enough to spend a short amount of time with him as he was a classmate of mine during his time at the Box Hill Institute in Victoria, Australia. He was always good for a laugh and spent his days with a winning smile on his face. I will always remember his kindness and concern when he helped me get out of shock after I had badly burnt my hand. Many sincere condolences to his family that he spoke so lovingly of during his time over here. R.I.P Randy.
Even tho I only knew him a few short months..I felt as tho I knew him a life time. He had a way with people and so much knowledge. He will be greatly missed by his family at the Wilson ave hy-vee kitchen.
I was fortunate to have Randy as a student in a few of my classes. He always came prepared with a great attitude, and a willingness to help his fellow classmates. Most of all I enjoyed his sense of humor. Randy's talent was matched only by the decency with which he treated all of his classmates and Kirkwood's faculty and staff. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I had the pleasure of seeing first hand just how much Randy loved to cook, to be around food, and perhaps more importantly, to share great food with others! Randy's enthusiasm for sharing his culinary skills touched a lot of people and will forever bring a smile to my face.
Thanks for letting me share in this enthusiasm, Randy.

Only God knows why things happen the way they do but we must keep moving forward. I pray for you and your family to try to move on and be happy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed visiting with Randy when he would stop by my office every now and then at Kirkwood. I enjoyed the years he was on the Central Iowa Training Association Board of Directors. He was a person that always had a smile on his face no matter what.
I am sorry God took you so soon in your life. Jackie I am sorry for your loss and I will pray that God takes care of you so you can see your little people grow as I have. Take care of your self and I think of you often.

Jackie & Family - So very sorry and shocked to hear about Randy. I always enjoyed seeing both of you, either at the Hilltop or the Eagles. He was truly one of God's "Happy Campers" in this world.
Our memories of Randy will never ever fade, he was so welcoming of us when we moved into the "Nascar neighborhood" we looked forward to every June at MIS and to what new recipe Randy would bring. I never thought in a million years when I gave him a hug goodbye this year that it would be my last... Dennis, myself and the kids send our deepest condolences and wish we could make the long trip to Iowa to pay our respects to this great man but we are unable to attend, please know our hearts are with you all. We will cherish our "Australlian" shot glass that he gave us just one short month ago and we will ALWAYS cherish our memories of Randy! xoxoxoxoxo
