Obituary of Virginia L. Krueger

Virginia L. Krueger, 88, of Lone Tree, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Lone Tree Health Care Center. A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 2 to 5pm Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City, with a Rebekah Memorial Service at 5pm. Private family graveside services will be held at the Lone Tree Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Virginia's memory to the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, the Lone Tree or Riverside First Responders, or Congregate Meals in Lone Tree. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com. Virginia L. Watkinson was born February 21, 1925 in Lone Tree, Iowa the daughter of Fay & Anna (Smid) Watkinson. Following graduation from Lone Tree High School in 1943, she worked as a secretary with an insurance office in Lone Tree. On June 6, 1944, she married Delbert E. Krueger. For over 60 years she was her husband's right hand on the farm near Lone Tree. After retiring in 2005, the couple moved to Riverside to live. Delbert died November 1, 2009. Virginia was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree, 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge, enjoyed working in the yard, garden and making quilts. She was so proud of the fact that she had made quilts for all of her children, and grandchildren. She loved her family dearly; spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the icing on the cake! Her family includes her children, Richard J. Krueger (Deanna) of Lone Tree, Ronald E. Krueger (Ginger) of Lone Tree, Merry J. Thomae (Jim) of Lone Tree, William F, Krueger of Phoenix, AZ, and Helen A. Ehlert of Iowa City; 9 grandchildren, Todd (Carmen) Krueger, Michelle Ohly, Melissa (Brian) Mullinnix, Ronald J. (Natasha) Krueger, Rochelle Krueger, Jimmy Thomae (Jaime Schnoebelen), Dusty (Daryl) Larson, Sonia (Rob) Johansen, and Craig (Ronna) Ehlert; 8 great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Josie, Cory, Riley, Ayden, Tyler, Aubray, and Noah; and Virginia's brother, Jim Watkinson of Iowa City.
