Condolences
I worked with Dave everyday, im sorry to the family for their loss, Dave was a great person, and someone i could talk to everyday. I was not able to attend Daves funeral, my condolences to his family.
Jo and family, You are in our thoughts and prayers. Mom just told me and too late to see you at visitation. Remember and talk about the good times; laugh together, cry together and share thoughts. He was so young; one never knows what tomorrow will bring. We must live life to the fullest.
Sincerely, Rick and Maxine Mabeus
Dave and I have been friends since junior high, I moved to the Seattle area in 1976, over the years we kept in touch whenever I returned to Iowa City. Last February I contacted Dave and we got together remembering old times. Riding motorcycles together, camping being high school buddies. He was a good guy and a good friend, he will be dearly missed.RUtHQ

Please accept my condolences, Dave was a great guy and always will to help out others. I didn't often see Dave after he left the PD, but if I did we always took the opportunity to catch up. I hope you and your family are doing well. If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask.
Jo and Family,
Jo and Kids--
How we loved to see Dave driving by our home-- arm out the window, sunglasses on, the dog in the back of his truck.-- He would always have time to stop and say hello, share his smile, inquire about the kids, have a good laugh. and exchange some sort of wise wisdom regarding current events; whether local or in Washington D.C. We always enjoyed our visits!
How we will miss him--
Love and Prayers--

Dave was the person that no matter who you were... he walked up and spoke to you...a good hearted spirit...an orney soul...a friend. Years have passed since we last saw him, but a special spot is in our hearts for Dave.
Thoughts and warmest hugs surround his family and friends at this time and always.

Our condolences to Dave's family. We met Dave many years ago through a mutual acquaintance, and became friends. We shared a common background as Police Officers, the enjoyment of snowmobiling on a trip to Wisconsin, motorcycle riding, and the same birthdate, just a year apart. He was a most interesting guy, and will be missed by all who knew him.
