James A. "Jim" Atkinson
1947 - 2013
Condolences
Sorry to hear about your loss. For the short time we knew Jim, he was always a pleasant, genuine man. We enjoyed learning from, and working with Jim on our mutual fence line. You will be missed.
I am so sorry for your loss, Jim and worked together at Norand / Intermec, and went to high school together and didn'y even know it. He was a kind man and sure you have great memories.
Moopers and I were sad not to be in town to attend Jim's remembrance. Ever since we were introduced to Jim and Penny by Heather and Stevie, they have made us feel that we are members of the family. We cannot overstate how much it has meant to us that we were adopted by such wonderful people after moving away from both of our families to come to Iowa City. They've invited us to share in their birthdays, holiday celebrations, and other family gatherings. Jim's warmth and sense of humor were a constant presence at these events. We will miss him terribly.
I am so sorry I got this news so late. JIm was a very kind fair and gentle man to work for at Norand. I can hear his laughter even now while remembering him.

Penny and family.....Dick and I want you to know how very sorry we were to hear of your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
Penny and family-
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing- Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Also sending you a BIG HUG Miss Penny!! Take Care of yourself!!
My deepest sympathy to Penny and family. I was an admin assistant for Jim for many years at Norand Corporation. I absolutely loved working for him. I grew up on a farm so Jim and I always swapped stories of cattle, bulls, tractors you name it. I think it was our farm ethic that made us such a great team! Will miss that big smile that I remember so well.
We were so very sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that you and Jim are in our thoughts and prayers.
So sorry to hear today the loss of my best boss ever, but also a good friend. We had many great conversations and most were not about work, but about the farm. I will never forget the video he had me watch many years ago when he was considering buying a bull. It made me laugh and that is another thing I will miss about Jim was his contagious laugh. He said he was honored to come to my Wedding this last May 25th, but it was I that had the honor to share that day with my good friend. It was a sad long day for me and would be so much more for Penny and all of Jim's family. So you all will be in my thoughts and prayers because sadly I've been down this road before too.
Dear sweet Penny,
Dear Penny & family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
Love,
Dave & Kerry
Sending you our deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved husband, and treasured father. He must have been a pretty wonderful man to have produced such a wonderful daughter (my friend Heather)! I know you will all miss him so very much and know that he will always be carried in your hearts. Hugs,
